MIS Healthcare Supports New Derriford Community Diagnostic Centre with Two Samsung X-ray Rooms

MIS Healthcare is proud to have supported the successful opening of the new Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), which officially opened on 17th June. The purpose-built facility has been designed to provide faster access to diagnostic tests and scans, helping to reduce waiting times while bringing services closer to patients across Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

As part of the project, MIS Healthcare supplied, installed and provided comprehensive applications training for two Samsung digital X-ray rooms, ensuring radiographers were fully equipped to begin delivering high-quality imaging from the first day of clinical operation.

With services available seven days a week from 8am to 8pm, the Derriford Community Diagnostic Centre has been designed to maximise diagnostic capacity and improve access to care. The two Samsung digital X-ray rooms installed by MIS Healthcare provide fast, high-quality imaging to support the centre's extended operating hours and help clinicians make timely diagnostic decisions.

The GC85 includes Samsung's innovative Bone Suppression technology. Designed to enhance chest radiographs, the software digitally suppresses the appearance of ribs and clavicles, improving the visibility of soft tissue structures and potential lung abnormalities without requiring additional radiation exposure. This advanced image processing technology helps support greater diagnostic confidence and may assist clinicians in identifying subtle findings more effectively.

From project planning through installation, system commissioning and clinical applications training, MIS Healthcare worked closely with the project team to ensure a smooth implementation and seamless transition into service.

Jeanette Owen, Principal Radiographer said "I love that it has Wireless foot pedals! It has really low dose rates and the cameras on it will reduce time and improve the service we give to our patients. I'm excited for our radiographers to see the new equipment and delivering a brand new GP referred service to our patients.”

Beyond its advanced diagnostic capabilities, the Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre has been thoughtfully designed to create a calm and welcoming environment for patients. Bright, airy spaces filled with natural light are complemented by carefully selected artwork and photography, while colour-coded doors and way finding features help patients navigate the centre with ease. These considered design details contribute to a more relaxed experience, helping to reduce anxiety and create a positive environment for both patients and staff.

The opening of the Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre represents a significant investment in diagnostic healthcare for the region and MIS Healthcare is delighted to have contributed to a facility that will provide faster, more accessible imaging services for thousands of patients every year.
