Complete Operative Simulations

PROSTATE PHANTOM

SIM’s Prostate Phantom is a biodegradable phantom for the simulation of multiple medical procedures. Utilising advanced imaging (CT and MRI) or real-time TRUS, the user can train on different biopsy techniques (MRI-fusion and transperineal), brachytherapy, focal therapy, fiducial placement, and biodegradable spacer injection. The SIM Prostate Phantom contains optional MRI- and ultrasound-visible lesions allowing for annotation, fusion and biopsy with extraction of normal tissues and simulated lesions. The product contains the rectum, perineum, prostate, urethra, seminal vesicles, and optional internal lesions in anatomically correct locations. An MRI DICOM file is included for use with fusion systems.

 

Ultrasound and MRI-Fusion Biopsy

SIM’s prostate phantom is ideal for training in transrectal and transperineal biopsy. Internal lesions are visible on the included MRI DICOM file and apparent with ultrasound. The prostate phantom enables a completely functional biopsy procedure with removal of the biodegradable tissue samples confirming successful targeting and training validation.

Biodegradable Spacer Injection

The accurate and biologically relevant anatomy of the SIM prostate

phantom makes it the optimal training tool for injection of biodegradable spacers and related procedures. The realistic rectal prominence (at the apex) enhances the training by requiring proper needle steering and guidance, and the realistic injection dynamics mean that the biodegradable deposition actually creates space between the prostate and rectum, confirming proper placement.

Brachytherapy

The SIM prostate phantom is capable of simulating a complete LDR or HDR brachytherapy procedure, including real-time planning with computer optimisation. The phantom is designed to confirm seed locations and is offered at an affordable price, making it the preferred tool for residency and fellowship training programs.

SIM's Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO) Phantom is a dynamic endourology trainer for a wide variety of treatments and devices for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer. The phantom enables lifelike resection, enucleation, implantation, and similar procedures for the relief of bladder outlet obstruction.

Convenient Setup

The BOO Phantom system has been designed to collect the irrigation fluid common to endourology procedures. Flow from the bladder is controlled by an adjustable proprietary system. Drainage from the simulated urethra is efficiently managed with the attachable funnel.

PARTIAL NEPHRECTOMY PHANTOM

SIM’s partial neprectomy phantom is a full procedural training model for a robotic-assisted or laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. The phantom simulates the approach, control of the renal artery, exposure of the lesions with realistic resection using standard minimally invasive instruments. The phantom contains a kidney with tumors located at the upper and lower poles, a renal hilum with artery and vein, pelvis, calyces, ureter, and perinephric fat. Other tumor locations available upon request.

 

Renal Access Training

Kidney and perinephric fat are contained as a single unit delivered in a training tray enabling convenient

out-of-the-box setup. The tray is designed to fit into most abdominal training enclosures.

Realistic Simulation

 The model accurately simulates identification of critical anatomy, dissection, exposure and resection of tumors, assessment of tumor margins and suture closure. SIM's unique tissue dynamics enable compatibility with standard surgical instruments and mimic robotic manipulation, resection, and suturing.

Customisable Pathology

 The standard model contains tumors at both kidney

poles. Custom engineering is available for specified

tumor locations and size, including phantoms created from submitted MRI or CT DICOMs.

GYNAECOLOGY PELVIC PHANTOM

DYNAMIC HANDS-ON TRAINING FOR A VARIETY OF PROCEDURES

 

SIM’s Gynaecology Pelvic Phantom is a durable hydrogel phantom ideal for hands-on training of a variety of gynaecological procedures. The phantom’s realistic texture and mechanics make it ideal for teaching everything from basic procedures (speculum placement and Pap smear) to more advanced therapies and procedures like hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, and HDR brachytherapy. The phantom is contained within a durable plastic case to facilitate re-use.
